A look into the invisible
DE CHIRICO, MARX ERNST, MAGRITTE, BALTHUS
The elegant Hotel Savoy is situated in the heart of the historic centre of Florence, close to the main attractions of the city, such as the Duomo and the Uffizi Gallery and a short distance from the most exclusive museums and galleries, is pleased to propose to its clients a cultural breakout in view of the extraordinary exhibition ‘De Chirico, Marx Ernst, Magritte, Balthus. A look into the invisible.’
The masterpieces of the Metaphysical period of Giorgio de Chirico are the central focus of the exhibition. These prominent artists immediately identified with this bewildering and enigmatic world view and with this insightful and extraordinary lucid representation. The work of de Chirico becomes the starting point for the research of heterogeneous artists, from Metaphysics to Surrealism.
On show, alongside the metaphysic masterpieces of de Chirico, are the works of René Magritte, Balthus and other artists such as Max Ernst, Carlo Carrà and Giorgio Morandi, that took inspiration from the teaching of de great painter’s school of thought.
The purpose is to establish stylistic relationship and formal affinity, and also to reveal new parallels with themes, subjects and sensibility between those artists.
