Learn how to sculpt like the Italian Masters at Hotel Savoy in Florence
Florence is to art what Milan is to fashion. From the sculpture filled Piazza della Signoria, to the Corridors of the Uffizi - every building is a masterpiece, every ceiling a fresco worthy of a National Geographic cover. With art aficionados the world over flocking here to indulge their passion, Rocco Forte’s Hotel Savoy has partnered with the renowned Galleria Romanelli Sculpture Studio to offer guests a chance to create their own masterpiece
The studio is in the San Frediano district, where frescoes by Masaccio and Florentine are displayed side by side. Once the workshop of Lorenzo Bartolini, one of greatest sculptors in 19th Century Italy, the building was passed to his most gifted student, Pasquale Romanelli. Now, some five generations later, the Romanelli dynasty continues with father and son team, Folco and Raffaello.
What the Romanelli’s don’t know about sculpture can be written on the back of a Uffizi Gallery entrance ticket. During two three-hour lessons in the studio, guests will learn the techniques of the ‘Maestri Italiani’, honing these skills in practice to create a sculpture to take home. Unless of course Mayor Matteo Renzi asks to display your masterpiece in the Accedemia Gallery alongside Michelangelo’s David.
The ‘It’s all about art’ at Hotel Savoy experience includes:
- Two sculpture lessons at the Galleria Romanelli Sculpture Studio
- Two nights accommodation, breakfast included
- A ‘Renaissance’ welcome drink at L’Incontro Bar
Valid until December 2012, prices start at €649 per room per night (minimum 2 nights, for two people). To book or for more information, visit www.roccofortehotels.com
